CORNELL FINE ARTS MUSEUM: Student Panel: The Place as Metaphor to be held January 29

By Press release submission | | Jan 28, 2019

Cornell Fine Arts Museum issued recently the following announcement.

Join us for a student panel discussion of “The Place as Metaphor: Collection Conversations” which opens to the public on January 17, 2019.

Featuring a mixture of collection favorites, works that have not been on view in a long time, and debuting new acquisitions, "The Place as Metaphor" builds conversations around ways of seeing. Celebrating the transformation of our permanent collection in the last five years, during which 700 new works of art were acquired, the exhibition is a reminder of the broad scope of the collection and the many trans-historical conversations it engenders. This exhibition is the result of a collaboration between CFAM and Rollins students in the Museum Studies Practicum course. Select works from private collections supplement the installation, as well as several loans from the Art Bridges Program, whose mission is to share outstanding works of American Art with other institutions.

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum, located on the Rollins College campus, has free admission and is open year-round with works also on view nearby at The Alfond Inn. No reservations or tickets are required for this event. Free parking available on campus and in the SunTrust Garage on Lyman Avenue with a Museum-validated parking stub. The museum is closed on Mondays, during major holidays and for installation of new exhibitions. The Museum is currently closed December 13, 2018 through January 16, 2019 for installation of upcoming exhibitions.
