City of Maitland issued the following announcement on Jan. 10.

Although Maitland does not have black bears, these large critters are commonly seen in other nearby parts of Central Florida as their population grows.

Join the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for an insightful presentation about bears at the next Maitland Nature Days series event at noon Saturday, Feb. 1, at Maitland Community Park, 1400 Mayo Ave.
